February is the month where we celebrate love and with all that romance in the air, it seems like the perfect time to get married!! At least that’s what Sharon + James were feeling when they headed to New Orleans for their elopement with six of their best friends in tow! The “Elopement 8” is what they called themselves, dispelling any hard, fast preconceived notions that an elopement has to be just the two of you! You’ve probably read it here on our blog before, or at least you’ve heard it on the Internet … when it comes to your wedding, there are no rules anymore! It’s your day and you should do it your way … like in a park, on a bridge, wearing red converse with your six besties cheering you on!! Because at the end of the day, it really is all about the two of you joining your lives, and the love you share.
We met Sharon + James in the sculpture garden at City Park just before their wedding for a quick photo session. We probably could have kept them in the garden for hours, it is so beautiful in there and the newer section provides so many great opportunities for portraits! We met the officiant at the Langles Bridge just as the sun was beginning to set and she performed the wedding ceremony while Sharon + James’ friends gathered round for support and cheers! We continued photographing the Elopement 8 until we lost light and then the most magical full moon rose over the horizon. I’ve read it’s good luck to get married on the day of a full moon, and if the size of the moon is any indicator, Sharon + James should be blessed with bountiful luck and abundant love!
