Some people look for love their whole life and others just have it show up on their doorstep, literally. When Aysia threw a graduation party for one of her friends Kevin arrived unannounced with a group of their mutual friends and, as they say, the rest is history! In early November, these two made even more history when they married in a beautiful ceremony at the Hilton St. Charles in downtown New Orleans. As if New Orleans does not have enough history of its own, the building where the wedding took place is the former home of the Jerusalem Temple. Remnants of the temple can been seen in the decor and the architecture.
The wedding was rich in love, family and tradition. There were lots of family members present to witness the celebration, including the 2 year old daughter of the bride and groom, who near about stole the show! As a matter of fact, there were actually a rare five generations present at the wedding. In addition, the bride carried a red orb necklace in her pocket as a reminder to have yet another grandmother near. When the ceremony ended, the couple honored their African ancestors by engaging in the tradition of jumping the broom then headed off to partake in a fantastic New Orleans tradition, the second line! The bride’s Delta Sigma Theta sorority sisters were in the house to share love and keep their traditions alive, as well!
When we asked Aysia what she wanted people to remember about the wedding, she replied that she wanted them to remember that they all had a great time. We believe that mission was accomplished! Congratulations again to the happy couple, and wishing you many, many years of joy!!
