Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue … and a sixpence in your shoe. Every bride knows that little rhyme, but what I love is that no two brides execute it in quite the same way. I was particularly intrigued when I noticed this bride’s mother quietly crafting away near the window, away from the hustle of the get ready madness. “What ya doing?,” I inquired as a made my way over to her. And ever so quietly she explained that this would be her daughter’s something blue … a piece of her father’s flannel shirt … it was what he always wore … he was the bride’s grandfather … he was no longer with us … it would be cut into the shape of a heart … stitched near her daughter’s heart. I love finding little stories within the story … every bride has one. How do you want your story told?
