Are you ready for Halloween yet! Earlier this month we met and photographed 72 families when they came to the pumpkin patch at St. Martin’s Episcopal church to pick out their pumpkins! Donations of $484 and 109 pounds of food were also collected during the event to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Today we were delighted to deliver your donations to Second Harvest, along with Travis Bozeman, who works so hard to make the Pumpkin Patch a huge success. We were also treated to a tour of the facility by Melanie Hoeman, Volunteer Services Supervisor. We learned that Second Harvest does a lot of amazing things with your donations, including running an 8,500 sq. ft. commercial-grade Community Kitchen which produces nutritious meals for several feeding programs, as well as providing cooking and nutrition education for community members!
A sincere thanks to all who came out and participated in this wonderful community event! Thanks to your generosity, you have helped provide 1,543 meals in our community, a 33% increase over last year! Way to go!
Have a safe and happy Halloween! And be sure to check out the video for a peek at some of our visitors! You might just see YOUR little ghoul or ghost!
