“Love is a place
& through this place of
love move
(with brightness of peace)
all places
yes is a world
& in this world of yes live
(skillfully curled)
all worlds”
― e.e. cummings
This is the love story of Alice and Deb … one of the most beautiful, joyous and heartfelt weddings we have shot to date. Oh, it was also, hands down the most musical event we have shot yet, but we’ll get to that. Let’s start where this story starts, when these two met at a youth church camp when they were both 14 years old. Their lives went separate ways but they always held the memory of the other dear. Thank goodness for Facebook, helping people find one another and reconnect … and that’s where this story fast forwards to the wedding of Alice and Deb at Felicity in early March. They were joined by a loving and supportive group of family and friends and by a lot of musicians! The beautiful brides began the day by helping one another into their stunning Ivey Abitz attire then headed upstairs at Felicity for a first look at the sanctuary for a “first look opening the door into the rest of [their] lives.” After a quick photowalk and song rehearsal, the wedding began. The brides were ushered in to the lush sounds of New Orleans Classical and Jazz. During the ceremony, the guests were treated to more songs, including one that Alice and Deb sang to one another, accompanied by Alice’s son on guitar. After the I do’s were said, the Kinfolk Brass Band busted in to lead the party on a good ole’ New Orleans Secondline! Next came cocktail hour, which was delightfully interrupted by none other than an opera flash mob. The guests were all then invited upstairs for a delicious dinner and dancing to the wonderful gypsy jazz swing sounds of The Bailsmen. It was a whirlwind good time, chocked full of love and joy and all the good things in life.
I always ask my wedding couples what they want their guests to remember most about their wedding. Alice and Deb replied, “That love is love is love is love.” I believe that their wish was fulfilled in that so much joy and love were present and abundant on this special day! Congratulations … I wish you both much love and happiness always.
